NSF Launches Spatiotemporal Innovation Center
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry & University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) Program funded three universities (University of California at Santa Barbara, George Mason University and Harvard University) to establish the I/UCRC for Spatiotemporal Thinking, Computing, and Applications. The new spatiotemporal innovation center will collaborate with government and industry to advance research aimed at deepening human understanding of how phenomena are linked in space and time, as well as developing new thinking, methodology, tools and solutions to address world challenges. Call for Registration - 2014 CGA Conference: Geospatial Technology and Online Education
This year’s CGA conference is aimed at reviewing the current status, achievements, lessons learned, unmet needs, challenges, potentials and perspectives of both geospatial online education and geospatial-enabled online education across the disciplines. May 2nd, 2014. CGIS South Concourse level, 1730 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA.
CGA New Website
The CGA has officially launched our new website, now featured at: http://gis.harvard.edu/. It retains the main functions from the old site, but features substantial reorganization and a fresh look. As this is brand new and we are still performing some content migration, we encourage users to submit feedback on the new website’s functionality, design, content, and aesthetics. Please submit your comments to contact@help.cga.harvard.edu. Your help is much appreciated.
WorldMap Updates
It is now possible to include dates describing the contents of map layers which go back as far in time as you wish – BC or even before dinosaurs (BD). In addition, two new base maps from Stamen Design http://stamen.com have been added to WorldMap:

Web GIS Course @ Harvard Extension School
Extension-CSCI E-8: Web GIS: Principles and Applications is offered this semester on Thursdays at 7:40 -9:40pm. This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of web GIS, teaches students the state-of-art web GIS application development skills including geospatial web services, cloud GIS, mobile GIS, geoportals and mashups, and inspires students with web GIS application case studies in e-government and e-business.
