CGA Spring Conference, Fisher Prize Applications, Call for Posters
The annual CGA conference “Creating the Policy and Legal Framework for a Location–Enabled Society”
will be held Thursday and Friday, May 2-3, 2013 in the CGIS Tsai Auditorium at 1730 Cambridge St. Cambridge MA. The CGA is inviting geographic visualization submissions to be displayed at the conference. These submissions may be in poster, video, 3d model, interactive website, or another format that can be set up in exhibit space. Submissions by Harvard students will also be considered for the Fisher Prize competition for excellence in GIS, a $500 cash award. The deadline for submission is Friday, April 26.

Intro to Spatial Methods Course
There are three spots open for this course, to be taught at the Harvard School of Public Health, Kresge 202, Kresge 209. Deadline for applying is this Friday, March 29. Meeting times are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30am - 10:20am. This is an introductory level course in the conceptual and analytic tools used to understand how spatial distributions of exposure impact on processes and patterns of disease. It covers methods that allow: (i) examination of patterns of health and disease in place and time, (ii) application of geospatial technologies and methods for epidemiology, (iii) analysis of time-space relations, (iv) identification of clusters and diffusion of disease, and (v) study of geographical epidemiology of selected infectious and noninfectious diseases. Register at the HSPH registrar’s office.
ESRI 3D Meet Up
Esri will present the latest in 3d technology at this event which is open to the public, to be held 4:30 – 6:30 on April 3rd at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. View the flyer.
Idrisi Selva version 17.02 Available
Idrisi Selva 17.02 release is now available for Harvard users to download from the CGA website (after login with your HUID). The “Idrisi_17.02_Selva.exe” file can be used for a fresh new installation, or an upgrade to your existing Selva 17.00 version. If you are new to Idrisi Selva, please follow the installation instructions downloadable from the same page to set up your license. Current Selva users may simply run this installation file and take all default options. It will retain your license setting as you have set up for your previous version.
PolicyMap Trial Version
Harvard affiliates have free use of the PolicyMap interactive web mapping site until April 30. Go to the PolicyMap site, and login with your HUID and try it out.
