GIS for the Humanities and Social Sciences Workshop

This full-day workshop to be held December 4, 2015, offers hands on instruction on learning and applying several GIS and mapping techniques commonly used by those practicing in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The workshop will include discussion and interactive exercises aimed to contextualize the usage of geography and maps for each participant’s individual research or teaching interests. 2016 CGA Spring Conference Topic Announced

The CGA is pleased to announce our annual spring conference will be “Space, Place, and Geographic Thinking in the Humanities” for 2016, to be held April 28 and 29. This conference is aimed at bringing humanists together with geospatial technologists and theorists, reviewing current status, achievements, lessons learned, unmet needs, challenges, potentials and perspectives of applying geographic analysis in the humanities. Harvard Integrates 3D Campus Maps with ArcGIS

Harvard’s Planning and Project Management (HPPM) group manages 660 buildings across several campuses worldwide. HPPM has made extensive use of both 2D and 3D GIS to aid this management effort. Now, many of these maps have been shared publicly through ESRI’s ArcGIS Online platform. Read the full article.

 

Cities Research Opportunities in Brazil - Lunch Workshop Nov 9th

Sponsored by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, this initiative is inviting all Harvard faculty, students and affiliated researchers with an interest in Urban Studies to participate.
