Last Call for Registration - 2014 Fisher Prize, Davis Center Prize

The 2014 Fisher Prize for excellence in GIS will be given to one graduate and one undergraduate student who must be enrolled in the academic year 2013-2014 and in good standing to be considered for the award. The Prize is a cash award of $500 given to each student.  The Davis Center Prize for GIS Projects in Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies is also a $500 cash reward, and is being offered in conjunction with the Fisher Prize.  For more on the Davis Center Prize, click here.  The deadline for submission for both prizes is 11:59 p.m.  Monday, April 28th, 2014.  To submit your work, follow the guidelines listed on the Fisher Prize page.

Last Call for Registration - 2014 CGA Conference: Geospatial Technology and Online Education

This year’s CGA conference is aimed at reviewing the current status, achievements, lessons learned, unmet needs, challenges, potentials and perspectives of both geospatial online education and geospatial-enabled online education across the disciplines. Harvard EDC Student of the Year Award Winner 2014

As an ESRI Development Center, Harvard CGA is offering an annual Student of the Year Award for the best GIS project that makes use of ESRI products.  This year, the first that the CGA has participated in the EDC program, we are pleased to announce that the entry “Middle Eastern Immigration Landscape in America” by Somayeh Chitchian (GSD Graduate Student) is the winner!  See the award-winning poster and project description.

NSF Research Experience for Undergraduate Opportunity

The STC is looking for 2-4 undergraduate research assistants for summer 2014. The students will be conducting spatiotemporal research of matched interests and advised by faculty at three universities: George Mason, Harvard and UC-Santa Barbara. Relevant experts from center members (e.g., NASA and USGS) will also provide guidance on data and operational environments.
