November GIS Presentations

The CGA is hosting the presentation “A Scientific Management Model for Geographic Information Sciences (GIS)” by Dr. Carmen Reyes, General Director of CentroGeo (Mexico) on Monday, November 17th.  The CGA and ABCD-GIS working group are hosting the presentation “Case Studies of the Utilization of GIS for Watershed Environmental Management in Asia” by Dr. Akiyuki Kawasaki, a CGA and SEAS visiting scholar on Wednesday, November 19th. ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Available

CGA has received the ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 installation and tutorial media. It is available for check out from the CGA lab.  Email us: contact@help.cga.harvard.edu if interested.

 

ERDAS 2009 Update Package

CGA has just received the ERDAS 2009 update package, which includes IMAGINE (remote sensing) and LPS (photogrammetry) software.  This package requires different installation procedures, which we are in the process of documenting.  An announcement will be made when the software is available for Harvard use.

AAG Student Award Application

The Cyberinfrastructure Specialty Group (CISG) of the American Association of Geographers has announced their student paper award competition, to be held at the AAG Annual Meeting in March, 2009. The deadline for paper submittal is November 12, 2008. More information and the application form:

Visualizing the Past Workshop: Call for Papers

The workshop “Visualizing the Past: Tools and Techniques for Understanding Historical Processes” will be held February 20 – 21 at the University of Richmond, in Richmond, VA.  The workshop will focus on how to best enable the massive amount of digital historical and social data for visualization and analysis via the internet.  Deadline for paper submission is December 15, 2008.  For more, see the flyer:

Call for Maps: Places & Spaces Mapping Science Exhibit

This exhibit was created to inspire cross-disciplinary discussion on how to best track and communicate human activity and scientific progress on a global scale. The exhibit reviews map submissions and accepts the best 10 maps into its exhibit each year.  View the flyer for more information:
