CONFERENCES

UCGIS Summer Meeting 2011

This meeting will be held at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado June 22-23, 2011. The location is chosen to reflect on how GIScience may contribute to the rapidly changing human environment with wide ranging issues related to climate change, urban communities, sustainable development, and many others.  All GIS-related scholars and practitioners, from either UCGIS or non-UCGIS institutions, are welcome to attend.  More information:  http://www.ucgis.org/summer2011/Default.aspx

2011 Spatial Epidemiology in Megacities Summer School
This summer school program: “Spatial Epidemiology in Megacities: Statistical and spatial analysis of Health under a changing climate” will be held in Bielefeld, Germany, September 12 – 16, 2011.  The course focuses on various dimensions of environment and health in megacities, such as megacity development, diseases burden, health determinants as well as climate change. The aim is to combine theoretical and lab work on statistical/epidemiological and geospatial analysis and modeling techniques in a trans-disciplinary approach.  For more information:
