2012 CGA Conference Tomorrow, 3/30: Re-mapping Africa in GIS: From Humanities to Health

This conference on Friday, March 30, 2012, brings together scholars on GIS and Africa to share their knowledge and experiences; to explore the potential of geospatial methods in the social sciences, further humanities scholarship by critically engaging GIS methods, and promote interdisciplinary collaborative research in health and humanities in the continent of Africa.

Harvard Geography Colloquium: Friday, April 6th

Dr. Anne Kelly Knowles of Middlebury College will speak on “Geographies of the Holocaust” at the next Harvard Geography Colloquium to be held Friday April 6, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM in room S050 of the CGIS South building at 1730 Cambridge St., Cambridge.  View the abstract here: http://gis.harvard.edu/colloquium

Cartography Workshop

This full-day hands-on workshop focuses on the visual representation of geographic information, and will teach the fundamentals and conventions of reference cartography, statistical thematic cartography, and the use of GIS to generate visual representations of spatial information.  The cost is $25 and includes lunch.

This recently held conference sponsored by the Virtue Foundation and Newsweek included celebrities such as Hillary Clinton and Angelina Jolie, and used WorldMap to start building a map of women-focused organizations around the world.
