Spatial Temporal Workshop Call for Posters

CGA Web Map Services
The CGA has recently created web map services for U.S. Counties, Congressional Districts, and Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The services are available to be embedded in web map applications, and contain legible labels at the appropriate map scales. To view and use the services go to our Web Apps page, on the right side:

Google Maps, AJAX and PostGIS
Displaying geographic information on a Google Map directly from a PostGIS database using AJAX eliminates the need for any map server software, and allows for editing of locations and information. More details and how to perform this is explained in a blog post by the CGA’s Dave Siegel:

Harvard Geospatial Library Presentation
The recently redesigned user interface for the HGL website will be presented in detail by Bonnie Burns of the Harvard Map Collection. The presentation is scheduled during the March ABCD-GIS gathering, at noon on Wednesday, March 18
th
, in room S050 of the CGIS South building at 1730 Cambridge St.
New Data added to the Harvard Geospatial Library
The Collins-Bartholomew World Complete dataset has been added to HGL, with access for all Harvard affiliates. This publication includes 27 different layers of global base data, and will be updated annually for at least the next three years. Also, historic maps of Chicago, San Francisco, Providence, Kansas City, St. Louis, Berlin, Rome, Los Angeles, and Seattle have been added. These georeferenced historic map images are available to the general public for viewing and download.
