Trimble GPS Devices Available for Harvard use
The CGA has recently acquired several mapping grade Trimble GPS devices for use by Harvard Affiliates. The devices are available on a first come first serve basis. Send email to contact@cga.harvard.edu for device reservation.
CGA’s Review of Recreational GPS Devices
The CGA conducted a review of recreational GPS devices, and has added additional information regarding mapping with GPS to the FAQ: GIS Questions & Answers.
CGA and HGL Paper Published in ArcUser
A paper titled “Expanding Access to Large Geospatial Repositories” is featured in the April – June quarterly publication of ArcUser magazine. Co-written by Bonnie Burns of the Harvard Map Collection and David E. Seigel of the CGA, the article discusses in depth how the Harvard Geospatial Library and CGA work in tandem to provide University wide access to HGL data, and the consulting support required to successfully utilize the data.

ESRI International Users Conference – ask a developer
The 2007 ESRI UC is in San Diego, CA, June 18 – 22. This is the annually the largest gathering of GIS professionals in the world, featuring thousands of papers, sessions, and educational opportunities. One of the most valuable services available at the conference is the opportunity to sit down with ESRI developers and present specific problems or questions you might be having with ESRI software. The CGA’s Wendy Guan will be attending on Harvard’s behalf, and will pass on any questions for ESRI developers emailed to her at wguan@cga.harvard.edu
GeoWeb 2007
The GeoWeb conference is for anyone interested on the convergence of web technologies such as XML, web mapping services, and GIS. It includes a strong lineup of keynote speakers from industry leading GIS and web focused companies, as well as papers and sessions. July 23 – 27 in Vancouver, BC.
