License Server Migration

Over the next 2 days (August 23-25), CGA will finalize the ESRI, FME and Leica site license server migration. This means that all Harvard and affiliates covered under the site license agreement should point their Desktop Administrators to esri-lm.harvard.edu. A backup server is available and is named esri-lm2.hul.harvard.edu. Please use the primary server as not all licenses are available on the backup server all of the time.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Should you notice a disruption in your license server access please make sure you are pointing to esri-lm.harvard.edu before contacting us at contact@cga.harvard.edu.

Personnel Changes

In early August, Anders Hopperstead bid farewell to CGA. He will pursue a new career in the Northwest. We miss him here, and wish him well in his new endeavor. His position will be refilled soon.

In September, Molly Gowen Groome will join CGA as a part time GIS Analyst. Molly comes with a BS from Tufts and a MS from Duke, both in geology. She has over 10 years experience as a software developer, GIS analyst and webmaster. She will work on CGA website maintenance, software user support, and shared project work.

ESRI International User Conference 2006

Wendy Guan and Guoping Huang of CGA attended the ESRI User’s Conference in San Diego on August 7-11, 2006. For an overview report of the conference, please visit our website at:http://www.gis.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k235&tabgroupid=icb.tabgroup7644

The conference is also a good chance to ask specific questions to ESRI developers directly. For a summary of questions from the Harvard GIS user community, and the answers CGA staff brought back from the conference, please visit our website at: http://www.gis.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k235&pageid=icb.page23178
