Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and Maps for Disaster Relief Efforts
Online mapping is transforming how disaster relief efforts are conducted. The HHI co-authored a report on
this subject:

AutoCAD Student Position open for Summer 2011
A temporary student summer position will be available at Harvard Capital Planning and Project
Management. The position will be using AutoCAD to modify building floor plans and geo-locate plans so they are compatible with the University’s Geographic Information System (GIS). Flexible hours, $13-$15/hour rate depending on experience. AutoCAD experience required. Please email resume and cover letter to: Parvaneh_kossari@harvard.edu
The Harvard Capital Planning and Project Management Department is actively involved with donating their
large scale campus mapping to the ESRI Community Maps Program:

New Layers Added to Harvard Geospatial Library
Euratlas, a historical atlas of Europe showing boundaries every 100 years starting at year 0 is now available
to Harvard researchers.
The following datasets have been recently added to HGL:
25 geo-referenced historic maps of Africa, the Pacific, and the Arctic. These are associated with the Open
Collections Program at Harvard and were digitized as part of the Expeditions and Discoveries project that
highlighted library materials from nine major Harvard sponsored scientific expeditions. These are available
for anyone to download.
ESRI Data and Maps 2010 updates are also available. About 40 layers were updated for 2010, and these
are ready for download for Harvard affiliates only. To access these layers go to HGL:
